U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Hidalgo Port of Entry confirmed this week that they had seized $40 million worth of methamphetamine, an addictive controlled substance that impacted the lives of almost 17 million Americans aged 12 or older in 2021. Border agents described how the drugs were hidden inside a lettuce shipment and that the 3,400lbs of meth recovered constituted a record-breaking haul.
Officers described how they encountered a tractor-trailer containing lettuce entering the United States from Mexico. After the vehicle was asked to pull over at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility, officers discovered 1,488 packages of the drug hidden among the vegetables. The drugs were quickly seized and an investigation is now underway by Homeland Security to determine the source of the drugs.
Port Director Carlos Rodriguez told local media that CBP officers “remain vigilant” and that they successfully prevented the drugs from reaching American streets.
“Congratulations to our diligent officers who made this record-breaking interception!” he added.
There’s a huge problem at the southern border, and it’s not clear whether the White House is being entirely honest about the situation. According to the official data, there have been 2.8 million illegals expelled from the country after trying to enter, while 2.5 million have been released into the United States. Republicans argue that the numbers are significantly higher, but the official data from the White House points to at least several million having been allowed to remain in the U.S.
Since President Joe Biden took office in January 2021, we also know that there were at least 5.1 million encounters with illegal immigrants at the border, as well as a further 1.2 million “gotaways”. We know, therefore, that there has been a minimum of 6.3 million illegal aliens finding their way into the United States since Biden took office.
Combined with the problem of illegal drugs pouring over the border, Americans have a dilemma: do they vote for the divisive former president who promises to tackle these issues, or do they vote for the vice president who pretends they don’t exist?
