An official in Texas was killed in an intense car crash this week, after a driver swerved onto the wrong side of the road.
Brandon Brown served as a Border Patrol agent for the past 20 years. His life was tragically taken on Monday September 16, when his personal vehicle was struck head-on by a driver coming towards him on a road in Nueces County. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash occurred just before nine o’clock at night.
Brown, who was from Corpus Christi, Texas, was driving his personal 1998 Lexus car east on Farm Market Road 70. At the same time, a 2023 Dodge Charger was driving in the opposite direction on the two-lane road. The Charger then was directed to the wrong side of the road and collided with the Lexus in a head-on crash.
The driver of the Dodge Charger was identified as Eva Rosa, a 39-year-old from Bishop, Texas. The department further explained in a press release that Brown’s vehicle went off the road and stopped in a ditch while Rosa’s car stopped in the lane in which she struck Brown.
There were no witnesses to the crash, Seargeant Rob Mallory revealed. However, two people who were driving behind Rosa came across the aftermath of the collision, stopped, and reported it to the Department of Public Safety. According to Jimmy Rivera, the constable at the agency’s third precinct, Brown had to be extricated from his seat after the crash. Images of the scene show broken windows, a deployed airbag, and the front of the car smashed in towards the driver’s seat.
Both victims were treated at the Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi Shoreline. While Rosa was conscious in the hospital, Brown sadly succumbed to his injuries. One investigator revealed that Brown had worked as an agent at the Kingsville Border Patrol Station before he died. His death is currently being investigated by the Corpus Christi Highway Patrol Office of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The community has responded with much compassion and support for Brown’s family since his death. A GoFundMe page that was launched to assist with financial needs has already raised more than $49,000 of its original goal of $40,000. A new goal has been set to $60,000. Brown leaves behind a wife and four children.
