Israel Accused of Shooting Dead 8-Year-Old Palestinian Boy in West Bank

Several Palestinian youngsters, who often played together on their street in the occupied West Bank, converged there in the early afternoon of November 29th, 2018.

Israeli forces opened fire minutes later, killing eight-year-old Adam and fifteen-year-old Basil.

Following the November shooting death of the eight-year-old child playing in the street, several experts have accused Israel of committing yet another war crime.

According to new evidence, Israeli Defense Forces opened fire on Adam and a group of other Palestinian youths in the West Bank, even though Adam was not armed.

It seems like Adam’s killing was a “war crime,” according to Ben Saul, the UN special rapporteur on human rights and counter-terrorism when given the facts.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces, Basil had an explosive on him when they opened fire, and they have consistently denied any wrongdoing. Additionally, they stated that live fire is used only to remove immediate threats or for arrest purposes, following arrest protocols after exhausting other options.

Baha, Adam’s elder brother, was fourteen years old, and he and nine other guys were also standing on the street.

It was believed that an armed convoy from Israel was departing from recent operations in the neighboring Jenin refugee camp as it passed by. As the convoy passes by, the driver’s door unexpectedly opens, as seen in a video. Then, eleven bullets are heard, some of which strike neighboring buildings and automobiles. As he attempted to flee from the firing, little Adam was struck by one bullet, while Basil was wounded by two in the chest.

Recalling the incident, Baha pulled his younger brother away from the chaos while yelling for assistance.

Whatever the adolescent was clutching in his hand remains a mystery. However, the use of such force on minors necessitates a probe, according to specialists.

This looks to be a breach of the human right to life, a war crime, and an infringement of the prohibitions on intentionally, indiscriminately, or disproportionately striking people, according to Mr. Saul.

The Israeli Defense Forces have said that the youths were endangering their vehicles by threatening to throw bombs at them.

Evidence of grave human rights breaches has been uncovered by a combination of witness accounts, mobile phone and CCTV video, details of the scene investigation (including measurements), and data about the activities of the Israeli force.
