In light of the persistent reports that their marriage is in jeopardy, Jennifer Lopez has barred all inquiries about Ben Affleck during her promotional appearances for Netflix’s Atlas.
The 54-year-old Jenny from the Block singer/actress has reportedly told reporters covering Atlas events that they are not to ask any questions about her on-again-off-again love interest/husband Affleck.
Lopez reportedly told the press that she would only do interviews in small groups with her co-stars, Simu Liu and Sterling K. Brown.
The tactic was successful during Monday’s and Tuesday’s debuts in Mexico City and Los Angeles. Nevertheless, a reporter confronted the singer directly about the divorce rumors at a press appearance in Mexico on Wednesday.
Lopez seemed anxious as she attempted to shrug off the question, but she ended up jokingly scolding the guy, adding that he should “know better than that.” She was still sporting her wedding band.
It’s unclear if the reporter was unaware of her request to refrain from asking personal questions or whether he chose to disregard it.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been living apart since Affleck moved out of their $60 million L.A. house several weeks ago. Despite the rumors, the actress and singer has not refuted the claims that her fourth marriage is in disarray.
J.Lo received praise for handling the issue gracefully, while her co-star Simu cautioned other reporters not to go down that rabbit hole. Affleck seems cheerful in photos taken by paparazzi in Los Angeles with his 12-year-old son Samuel.
Lopez has three divorces, including one in 1997 with Ojani Noa, one in 2001 with Cris Judd, and one in 2004 with Marc Anthony.
She recently visited Mexico as part of the promotional trail for Atlas, which premiered on May 24th.
Affleck’s temporary residence is spacious enough to accommodate many families, but it is a significant decrease from the 38,000-square-foot property he bought with his wife J.Lo last year for an astronomical $60.85 million.
