On Tuesday evening, June 11th, a shooting occurred in Memphis, Tennessee, leaving one adult and four youngsters wounded, according to authorities. In interviews with news organizations, the Memphis Police Department reported that the shooting occurred just after 5 PM.
Four seriously injured individuals were sent to a Memphis hospital.
A member of the family who chose to remain anonymous talked with the local press about the dad and four small children who were shot on Interstate 240. According to the relative, one boy lost two fingers, while another was hit in the stomach.
A set of twins (3), a 2-year-old, an 8-year-old, and their father were among the casualties, according to the police. One child was hit five times.
According to the Memphis Police, the gunshot was committed by two suspects, Kendrick Ray (21) and Lorenzo Watson (18). Following a pursuit that terminated in Raleigh, they were prosecuted for attempted homicide. They were apprehended after trying to get into a residence after fleeing the collision of their vehicle.
This shooting occurred two months after an attack on a block party in Memphis’ Orange Mound area on April 20, 2024, which claimed the lives of several people. At least six people were hurt, and two were killed. The victims were between 16 and 29.
The gathering, which drew up to 300 people, was targeted by at least two gunmen, according to Police Chief C.J. Davis. They don’t know what prompted the shooting.
The police announced a reward of $15,000 for information that would lead to the arrest of the offenders.
According to Memphis PD, arrests were made on May 7, 2024. But the shooters themselves are still on the loose.
Memphis remains beset by gun violence. Several high-profile shootings have occurred in the city in the past year, such as a domestic violence-related rampage that resulted in the deaths of four women in November 2023.
