Vivek Ramaswamy Suggests New Approach to Critique Kamala Harris

Former Republican primary competitor Vivek Ramaswamy has called for a new election strategy and a new approach to tackling Kamala Harris. The entrepreneur appeared on conservative commentator Ben Shapiro’s podcast and stated that Trump is not running against a candidate but a “system.”

Ramaswamy stated that Democrats “photoshopped” Harris into the picture after initially protecting President Biden but then ousting him following a poor debate performance. He also claimed that Democrats strategically arranged an early debate to assess Biden’s abilities while there was still time to transfer the reins to Kamala Harris.

Noting Donald Trump’s frequent references to Harris as a Marxist and a communist, Mr. Ramaswamy described this as a mistake. He said the Vice President doesn’t have firmly held beliefs but is simply “another cog in a machine.”

The billionaire Republican has long been a ferocious critic of Kamala Harris, and in August, he said she should feel ashamed of her approach to immigration. Mr. Ramaswamy recalled comments from Harris in 2017 when she said an illegal immigrant is not a criminal. At the time, the Vice President’s staff told journalists she was making a legal point and pointing to a Supreme Court declaration: “As a general rule, it is not a crime for a removable alien to remain present in the United States.”

Nevertheless, Ramaswamy said the President put Harris in charge of securing the border, and she failed. He also blamed the Vice President for the murders of several young women by illegal immigrants and urged her to apologize to their families.

Donald Trump has repeatedly described Vice President Harris as Joe Biden’s “border czar,” but the White House insists that was never her role. Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the issue during an exchange with Fox’s Peter Doocy in July. She said Harris was not a “border czar” and that the White House had never used that term.

Jean-Pierre described the Vice President’s task as investigating and clarifying why people leave their country for the United States and what can be done to tackle the issues at their source. Harris consequently produced a report recommending that the government “consistently engage with the region to address the hardships that cause people to leave Central America and come to our border.”
