Artificial intelligence has undoubtedly been the main focal point of technological advancements for the last two years. The speed at which artificial intelligence has advanced through forms such as ChatGPT and AI incorporated into social media has been nothing short of revolutionary. However, it seems as though big tech companies such as Apple, Meta, and Microsoft are all a part of a new-age race to see who can be the most successful through artificial intelligence. Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has called out his fellow opponents in the AI race for allegedly trying to create one big super-AI.
In a recent YouTube interview with entrepreneur Kane Sutter, Zuckerberg expressed that his rival tech companies are trying to create “God” by coming together to create a universal AI. Zuckerberg stated in the interview that he was turned off by the idea of tech industry personnel talking about creating “one true AI”. During his claims, it seems Zuckerberg was alluding to fellow big-tech operators in Silicon Valley who are formulating a plot to build a technology, presumably AI, that would surpass human intelligence. Zuckerberg further explained that such a plan realistically would not work out in a tech company’s favor.
Futurism.com reported on the matter by explaining that Zuckerberg’s view on a universal AI would be unrealistic because people have different needs and wants that they would want the AI to respond to. The outlet stated that to fulfill all different needs, there would need to be multiple forms of AI.
Further into Zuckerberg’s online interview, the Meta CEO went on to criticize AI platforms that are closed off, whereas the Facebook founder praised open AI platforms such as source AI and Chat GPT. Zuckerberg praised the open technology for encouraging users to create AI models specifically for their needs. Following this, Zuckerberg explained that his company, Meta, is experimenting differently with AI by creating multiple AI tools for different purposes.
